Kendallville Day Care Center Preschool program uses The Creative Curriculum, a theory and research based curriculum and the Indiana Foundations to the Academic Standards for Young Children Birth to Age 5, to intentionally develop and implement the classroom environment and weekly experience plans. Our approach to developmentally appropriate teaching promotes optimal learning and development for each individual child. We follow these principles:
- Provide a welcoming, nurturing environment with positive interactions and relationships with adults and peers building the critical foundation for successful learning.
- Constructive and purposeful play supporting essential learning.
- Social-emotional competency which is a significant factor in school success.
- Teacher-family partnerships to promote development and learning.
It is not just play! Purposeful and productive play is positively related to memory development, symbolic thinking, positive approaches to learning, positive social skills, language and literacy skills, and math skills.
Through these principles we are encouraging life skills, Kindergarten readiness, and life-long learners.
The ratio of teacher to child is 1:10 (ages 3 & 4) and 1:12 (ages 4 & 5).
