Cheryl Casey, Secretary

My name is Cheryl Casey. I began my journey with KDCC in February 2012 as an assistant teacher. My current position is receptionist and fill in anywhere as needed. I am an Ivy Tech graduate where I obtained a Paraprofessional Certification for K-12, a Human Resources Certificate, and an Accounting Certificate. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I have previously volunteered during the summer as a camp relief counselor with RFKC working with abused, neglected and abandoned children. I have volunteered with Coldwater Baptist Church for their Friday Night Alive Program for middle school and high school kids. For several months I had the opportunity to assistant teach at the Avilla Elementary School, working in the Life Skills Classroom. I am a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and attend yearly professional development trainings provided by the local chapter, D.A.W.N. I have three grown children and ten grandchildren. I enjoy family traditions and spending time with family. In 2010, I met my soul mate Darrell W Casey and we were married in January 2014. We currently reside in Kendallville along with our Calico cat, Princess. I enjoy music, and my favorite artist is Neil Diamond. I play a little on keyboard and am currently attempting to learn acoustic guitar. I like karaoke and would like to learn line dancing someday. I am a writer and have been published on poetry.com. Other activities I enjoy include quilting, crafting, re-purposing old things, cooking, finding new ideas on Pinterest, traveling, shopping with my daughters and movie/date nights with Darrell.

Melinda Barto, Infant Teacher

My name is Melinda Barto. I have been employed with the Kendallville Day Care Center since September 2004. I have obtained my CDA credential. I have run my own in-home day care in Berlin, German for two years. Following that I worked on military bases with children of all ages. I also have traveled the world and have had the privilege to work with many children and parents of all origins. I have one daughter that I have raised and she is now an adult on her own.

Hi, my name is Rena Schumm. My husband, Jeff, and I got married in 1976. We have 3 grown children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. I have lived in Kendallville most of my married life. I started at this child care in the beginning of 2012. I will be obtaining my CDA in the fall of 2015. I love working here in the infant and toddler rooms. I love taking care of children.

My name is Faye Godsey. I live in Rome City with my husband Marc and we have 2 children and 7 grandchildren. I earned my CDA in April of 2011, and renewed it in January 2015. I have worked at the Kendallville Day Care Center since 2009. I have worked with infants, toddlers, and 4 & 5’s. I am currently working with 2 year olds. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family.

Shelbi Stratton, Twos Teacher

My name is Shelbi Stratton. I lived in Fort Wayne for 18 years before moving to Kendallville in 1995. I have been married for 7 years. I have a teenage son and daughter, and a teenage step-daughter. My son graduated from East Noble in 2015 and our girls will graduate in 2018. I started working at the Kendallville Day Care Center in 2014. I enjoy working with the 2 year-olds. I work mostly with the toddlers and sometimes assist in the infant room. It is always an adventure. I teach the kids some sign language because I am deaf.

Hi, I’m Cheryl Stadtfeld. I have lived in Kendallville all my life. My husband is Eric and we have one son. After High School I went to Ivy Tech and got a Technical Certificate in Medical Secretarial/Insurance. I worked for 21 years in the medical/dental field. Since 2000, I have worked in child care. I have worked with infants through four-years-old. I am very honored to be able to have a part in each child’s life that has been in my classroom.

My name is Renea Vice. I have worked at the Kendallville Day Care Center since July 2006. I currently work in the 3 and 4 year old classroom with Mrs. Claudette. I like gardening and working in my flower beds in my leisure time. I also like watching Nascar and football, taking walks, and enjoying the outdoors.

Kim Sowles, Preschool Teacher

My name is Kim Sowles. I attended Rochester College where I obtained a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I interned at Rochester College Preschool. Since graduating I have work with children of various ages in child care and preschool settings as well as teaching bible classes and working with the youth group at church. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family and I enjoy reading.

Hello! My name is Martha Walker. I started working at the Kendallville Day Care Center in 1986. I am the lead teacher for the 3 and 4 years old classroom. In 2002 I received my Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. It has never been a dull moment working with young children; they will amaze you. I have three children and three grand-children of my own. My husband and I enjoy traveling and riding our motorcycle.

Hello! My name is Dana Streich. I began working at the Kendallville Day Care Center in November 2011. I am the lead teacher in the school age classroom and assistant teacher in the 3 and 4 year old classroom. In December 2013, I obtained my Child Development Associate (CDA). I love working with children knowing that each day will be a new adventure. My husband and I have two children, Tanner and Gracelynn. I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing…anything outdoors! Most of all, I love spending time with my family and friends.
